@unicefksu, I couldn’t be more proud of everyone’s solid support and dedication to making #mileforchange a worthwhile fundraiser. We raised over $500 for refugee children in #Syria. To me, this is one of the more beautiful things I have heard about this week. We are one of the top 35 groups in the country.

You are most powerful when you are most silent. People never expect silence. They expect words, motion, defense, offense, back and forth. They expect to leap into the fray. They are ready, fists up, words hanging leaping from their mouths. Silence? No.

The Front Bottoms - Maps

What about your friends?

Don’t you love ‘em enough to stay?

And I say if I don’t leave now

Then I will never get away

Reporters Without Borders is deeply concerned with the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011 (CISPA), the cyber security bill now before the US Congress. In the name of the war on cyber crime, it would allow the government and private companies to deploy draconian measures to monitor, even censor, the Web. It might even be used to close down sites that publish classified files or information.

While we wholeheartedly support a more secure Internet, CISPA has a broad and alarming reach that goes far beyond Internet security.

What I need is the desire to be perfect. When the desire dwindles into a stubborn hope that sticks to the edges of just getting by, I notice. I notice the itch of comparison coming back. I notice the aggression to find inspiration squeezing itself up through the cracks in my attempts and forgetfulness. I need direction and distain for anything less than the best. I need self-preservation, selfishness, and unwavering self control.

Germany Fines Google Over Data Collection

“As long as violations of data protection law are penalized with such insignificant sums, the ability of existing laws to protect personal privacy in the digital world, with its high potential for abuse, is barely possible,”

The United States does nothing to protect us from violations of data collection. I am sad to live in a country that calls themselves a democracy and exploits my constitutional rights on a daily basis. As long as there are jobs created, there will be a data collection industry and citizens will be more than happy to collect a paycheck and fancy federal title in return for collecting information on their neighbors unknowingly.
